Four Taken Into Custody for Attacking 16-Year-Old Boy
Four youths were taken into custody for attacking and injuring a 16-year-old boy following a dispute during a temple festival in Arimpur. The assault video had gone viral on social media, prompting police action.
Anthikkad: Four youths have been taken into police custody for attacking and injuring a 16-year-old boy following a dispute during a temple festival in Arimpur. The incident occurred during the Dhanupooja festival at the Arimpur Sree Subrahmanyaswamy Temple on Monday, January 5, 2026.
According to police, the incident began during a kavadi dance performance. One of the accused reportedly fell onto the teenager while dancing. When the boy pushed him away, the accused developed personal enmity and later attacked the minor.
The assault took place around 6:00 pm on January 6, 2026, near the Olenthalipara pond area in Arimpur. The boy was attacked using hands and sticks, abused verbally, and allegedly insulted using caste-based slurs. Videos of the attack were widely circulated on social media, following which the Thrissur Rural Police took swift action. Those taken into custody are Sreeshnav (20) of Chendankulam house, Nalamkallu, Arimpur; Smijin (19) of Nangeli house, Veluthur; Sreehari (19) of Mangattu house, Arimpur; and Rajesh (19) of Kannoli house, Nalamkallu, Arimpur. Anthikkad Police have initiated further legal proceedings in the case.
