Attack Over Police Complaint: Notorious Criminal Rowdy Arrested and Remanded
An offender with multiple criminal cases was arrested for attacking a man over personal enmity linked to an earlier police complaint.
Mathilakam: A man was attacked due to personal enmity after he filed a police complaint earlier. The accused, a known station rowdy with several criminal cases including attempt to murder, has been arrested and remanded by the Thrissur Rural Police. The victim, Prashobhi (47), a native of Koolimuttam Bhajanamadam and resident of Ilayarampurakkal house, was assaulted and seriously injured. The accused is Akhil (33), a native of Koolimuttam Bhajanamadam and resident of Koorampurakkal house.
After completing legal procedures, Akhil was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. Police said that in November 2004, the accused had earlier attacked the same person, following which a complaint was filed and Akhil was arrested and jailed. The present attack was carried out due to grudge related to that earlier police complaint.
Akhil is involved in seven criminal cases under the Mathilakam and Kaipamangalam police station limits, including five cases of attempt to murder and two assault cases. He was also previously detained under the KAAPA Act for repeatedly disturbing public peace. The arrest was carried out by a police team led by Mathilakam Police Station Sub-Inspector Pradeep, along with GS CPOs Bobby Thankachan and Saneesh K B, and CPOs Babeesh and Ragin.
