Absconding Accused in Attempt to Murder Case Arrested, Remanded to Custody
An absconding accused in an attempt to murder case was arrested by Thrissur Rural Police from Varandarappilly. The accused, a known station rowdy with multiple criminal cases, was later remanded to judicial custody
Chalakudy: Thrissur Rural Police arrested an absconding accused in an attempt to murder case who had been evading trial proceedings after securing bail. The arrest was carried out early morning on January 28, 2025, from a rented house in Varandarappilly.
The case dates back to December 22, 2013, when the accused allegedly attacked Wilson (46), a native of Potta, Chalakudy, and his son at their residence. The incident reportedly occurred after Wilson refused to give soda from his shop at night, following which the accused forcefully entered the house, broke open the door, and assaulted them using a sword and an iron rod, causing injuries.
The accused, Nishad alias Basha (36), of Potta, Chalakudy, is a station rowdy and an accused in three criminal cases including attempt to murder, arms act violation, and assault. Acting on a non-bailable warrant issued by the court, the arrest was made by a team led by Chalakudy Police Sub-Inspector Santhosh Kumar, along with ASI Sheril and CPOs Deepu, Ajith, and Rethish.
